Dear members,
It is with tremendous pride and enthusiasm that the Mount Hamilton Youth Soccer Club (MHYSC) announces the completion of our clubhouse Renovation Project. As you are aware, MHYSC operates its business and administration duties out of the field house located at Macassa Park. As well, the field house also serves as an equipment storage facility for both the MHYSC and the City of Hamilton Parks and Recreation staff. The field house or “clubhouse” as it is affectionately known to our members has been generously provided for use by the City of Hamilton since the 1980’s.
In November 2009, the MHYSC recognized the need to provide its members and paid staff with a functioning and professional office and storage facility. A special meeting of the MHYSC Board of Directors was convened and voted unanimously to undertake this project. As a result, MHYSC looked to the City of Hamilton for a formalized lease agreement to ensure and guarantee our long standing use of the “clubhouse”. On February 27th 2010, Regional Council approved the new five year lease agreement with the MHYSC and soon after the clubhouse renovation project formally commenced. The “clubhouse” also formally registered a new mailing address of 9 Dallas Drive, Hamilton!
In addition, several upgrades were needed to ensure the clubhouse met basic sanitary functions (including the addition of a bathroom for staff and disabled persons) while providing a safe and professional work environment. As well, heating and cooling plans were needed to combat the hot temperatures in the summer and the frigid temperatures in the winter. A new heating, cooling and thermal insulation efficiency plan was designed and set in place. Along with several other improvements the MHYSC now boasts one of the most modern and soccer friendly offices in the Hamilton area.
MHYSC is very grateful to several organizations in our community for their partnership in this initiative and generous monetary donations as well as, labour, materials and equipment. The aforementioned donations are a strong indication of how these organizations value their community and support its programs. On behalf of President John DiDonato, the MHYSC Board of Directors and all of our members, I would like to personally extend our appreciation and gratitude to the following organizations for their kind donations:
