The 2026 Winter Skills Centre Program is a pathway-focused player development initiative designed to support players aspiring to progress within competitive and high-performance environments. The program provides a structured, intentional training setting during the winter months, bridging the gap between grassroots, competitive, and elite pathways.
The technical foundation of the program is centred on learning to out-move opponents, out-play in tight spaces, and receive with a clean, controlled first touch under pressure.
Players will be challenged in dynamic environment that emphasize technical quality, tactical awareness, and decision-making - key competencies required at the next level of the game.
The Winter Skills Centre will be personally led and overseen by Mount Hamilton United Soccer Club's Head of Soccer Development, Joey Lombardi. Joey brings extensive pathway and high-performance experience.
His involvement ensures the program aligns with national standards, modern training methodology, and long-term player development principles. Each week will follow a clear technical and tactical theme, allowing players to progressively build skills that directly translate to their competitive environments.
Sessions will be delivered by Joey Lombardi and certified licensed coaches, to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with the Ontario Soccer player pathway.
The Winter Skills Centre is open to all players, including Mount Hamilton United members and players from other clubs who are seeking additional, pathway-aligned development during the indoor season. Spots are limited.
This inclusive approach allows motivated players from across the region to train in a high-standard environment that supports their individual development goals. The program is ideal for players who are committed to improving their technical proficiency and preparing themselves for progression within competitive and high-performance soccer pathways.
